Who am I?

Hi, I'm Austin Hua from America with an international background.

🛠️ My research primarily focuses on neuroengineering and brain-computer interfaces (BCI), quantum hardware-software co-design, China studies, and novel applications of AI. I also have experience in videogame design, computer graphics, web development, and biotech development.

🌐 I enjoy HR, outreach, recruiting, marketing, and management. More than anything, I enjoy building organisations that help people. I'm deeply passionate about applying creative engineering solutions to emergent problems and leveraging language for teamwork and global collaboration. Together let's make a difference.

Tokai

name:'Tokai',
tools: ['Brain-Computer Interface (BCI)', 'Agentic AI', 'Machine Learning', 'Neuroengineering],
myRole:Founder, Lead Developer, and Author,
Description: Tokai is a cognitive-state-aware task management and recommendation system driven by brain-computer interface (BCI) data - to my knowledge the first system to combine BCI sensing with cognitive-state-aware task recommendation. Built as my master's thesis at National Taiwan University, it was evaluated at 5 A's and 1 A+, became my most-starred GitHub repository with 35+ stars, and grew past 50 registered users and 23 testers. Tokai has since left the lab and continues under ICUNIT (ICU), the company I founded to sustain it. The accompanying paper, "Design and Evaluation of Tokai: A Cognitive-State-Aware Agentic Productivity System for Neurodivergent Users," is under submission to the AMAI Workshop at IEEE BIBM 2026.,

Quantum Continual Learning - ⟨4|QCL|4⟩

name:'Quantum Continual Learning - ⟨4|QCL|4⟩',
tools: ['Qiskit', 'Variational Quantum Circuits', 'Quantum Fisher Information', 'Quantum Machine Learning', 'Python', 'IBM Quantum],
myRole:Team Member,
Description: Our team ⟨4|QCL|4⟩ won the NTU-IBM Quantum Hub Prize for 2nd place among 14 teams at Qiskit Hackathon Taiwan 2026. We worked on quantum continual learning: variational quantum circuits suffer the same catastrophic forgetting as classical neural networks. We implemented Quantum Elastic Weight Consolidation, protecting important circuit parameters with Quantum Fisher Information rather than the classical equivalent - measuring how much a parameter shifts the quantum state itself. That distinction holds up under hardware noise, where the classical signal degrades.,

Screenshot2Code

name:'Screenshot2Code',
tools: ['PyTesseract', 'Pandas', 'Guesslang', 'Python],
myRole:Developer,
Description: Code screenshots can be a nightmare to deal with, but clipboards aren't much better. This is a Github repo I created to convert any code screenshots into a textual format. The project has already achieved more than 25 likes on Github.,

JobHuntRPG

name:'JobHuntRPG',
tools: ['Phaser 3', 'HTML5', 'JavaScript', 'Typescript', 'ChatGPT-4', 'NightCafe.studio],
myRole:Sole Developer,
Description: JobHuntRPG allows for job-seeking scallywags to apply for real-world jobs in a videogame as their own role-playing character! Normal job application systems are boring, repetitive, and don't treat you like the character that you deserve to be treated as! This system is multilingual with an emphasis on interactiveness, unlike conventional job application systems.,
